Founder & Director

Sheila established Erin’s Angels in 2017, transforming the tragic loss of Erin Maxwell into a powerful mission to create lasting change. Under her leadership, the organization has grown significantly, supported by a dedicated volunteer team committed to addressing food insecurity.

In addition to Erin’s Angels, Sheila owns Small Town Girl Marketing, founded in 2022. Through this remote consulting service, Sheila supports grassroots organizations with marketing and fundraising strategies, drawing upon her extensive nonprofit sector experience to help them enhance their visibility and impact despite limited resources. She also works part time at her fiancé's company as the marketing coordinator at GROW Wealth Partners.

Sheila is also an active community advocate, regularly speaking at events to raise awareness about food insecurity and inspire community action. She serves on the Advisory Council for the Oswego County Community Foundation, further extending her community involvement. Sheila holds an associate degree from Holyoke Community College in Massachusetts and has earned additional certifications from Leadership Oswego County and Dale Carnegie.

Throughout her career, Sheila’s leadership and community contributions have been widely recognized. Her honors include The Central New York Business Journal’s Non-Profit Award for Board Leadership, the Phoenix Central School District’s "Making a Difference Award," one of Channel 9's "Most Remarkable Women" and the United Way of Oswego County's "Community Champion Award".

Committed to the belief that collaboration strengthens communities, Sheila launched Oswego Women Lead, a biannual networking event focused on community giving through in-kind donations, highlighting that networking can profoundly impact the lives of others.

Sheila has three sons: Thomas, a crew chief in the U.S. Air National Guard; Michael, a graduate of Alfred State College with a degree in Electrical Technology; and Johnathan, who is pursuing his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Daemen University. Sheila enjoys traveling with her fiancé, Dean, and resides in Baldwinsville with her pocket beagle, Zuzu.

Board President

Jackie Flint

Jackie Flint has been on the Board of Directors for Erin's Angel's since inception and is currently Chairperson for the advocacy committee. She is the Assistant Director of Product Management at The Hartford Insurance Group where she has worked full time for 34 years.

Jackie grew up in San Francisco, California before planting roots in Central New York in 1986. Jackie lived in Phoenix, NY for more than 20 years before moving to Hannibal, NY after marrying her husband Jamie in 2014. They have raised their 4 children and are recent empty nesters!

Jackie was actively involved in her children’s activities growing up including The Boy Scouts of America, where her son Luke earned the rank of Eagle Scout, as well as coaching for the Phoenix Pop Warner Cheerleading program for several years. She also took great pride in sharing her passion for Erin’s Angels with her children and looks forward to continuing this tradition with her granddaughter Aurora.

Erin’s Angels means a lot to Jackie personally. Food insecurity has touched her life both as a child who experienced lean times growing up as well as the precious time she spent with Erin. While there is nothing we can do to change the past, we can do something to help today and in the future. Breaking the cycle of poverty and food insecurity for the little people in our community. For these reasons, she continues to work in this role with an organization committed to filling this much needed gap in our community.

Jack is an award-winning senior-level communications manager and strategist who builds narratives, shifts perceptions, and maintains strong media relationships. As a communications professional, he understands what it means to work tirelessly, multitask, problem solve and take initiative to generate impactful news coverage with strategic media outlets locally, region all and nationally.

He brings deep communication strategy and leadership experience to Erin's Angels with the ability to engage media audiences via traditional and digital communication platforms and track/measure the ensuing results.

His blue-chip portfolio of organizations includes the United Way, American Diabetes Association, Vive Shelter, Jericho Road Community Health Center, Nextel Partners, and Sprint Corporation. In addition to his career in public relations he is also a small business owner. He and his daughter Morgan started the Jack and Mo Cooking show in 2016 to teach families how to cook together, eat healthier and communicate around the dinner table. They conducted live cooking classes and demonstrations in libraries, schools, churches, department stores such as Boscov's and J.C. Penny's and even once appeared as guests on the Rachel Ray Show. Over the years they have conducted several food drives to help eradicate food insecurity in the community.

Jack is a lifelong resident of Central New York, having been raised in Utica and educated in Utica schools and local colleges. As a child he grew up as a resident of HUD housing projects and spent his teenage years living in the high crime area of the city. His family environment was economically, emotionally and physically challenging to say the least. Growing up, he and his family relied on the generosity of local agencies and non-profit organizations for survival. In fact, what drew him to Erin's Angels was the memory of growing up as part of a family in need of programs and assistance simply to have food on the table. He sees it as an opportunity to utilize his life experiences, education, skills and abilities to help other children not have to live with hunger the way he did. As he often likes to say "you don't do this kind of work for the income, you do it for the outcome."

After graduating from high school in Utica, he worked his way through college as did his three siblings. He holds degrees in marketing and business and public management from Mohawk Valley Community College and the SUNY Institute of Technology (now known as SUNY Poly) in Utica. Following college, he worked as a speech writer and press secretary for the Oneida County Executive, in fundraising and communications for the Utica and Syracuse offices of the American Diabetes Association, in the corporate communications department for Sprint Nextel Corporation, as a communications consultant for a private public relations firm based in Syracuse and Florida and most recently the Director of Development and Communications for the United Way.

Join a committee

Joining a committee with Erin’s Angels is of a less commitment than joining the board!

Committees typically have a more focused and specific scope of responsibility. Members are assigned to work on projects or initiatives, allowing for a narrower focus.

Board members are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the organization. Their responsibilities encompass a broader range of duties, including financial oversight, legal obligations, and long-term planning.

Board members are expected to dedicate a significant amount of time to attending regular board meetings, committee meetings, and possibly additional events. The time commitment is usually higher due to the broader nature of their responsibilities.

Committees typically make recommendations and provide input to the board. While committee members play a crucial role, the final decision-making authority often rests with the board.

It's important to note that both committees and boards play crucial roles in the functioning of an organization, and the level of commitment can vary depending on the specific organization's structure and needs. Joining a committee can be an excellent entry point for you if you want to contribute without taking on the extensive responsibilities associated with board membership.

About Erin's Angels of CNY

Our Vision

Thank you to the Association of Fundraising Professionals-CNY Chapter for choosing Sheila for the 2024 Chamberlain Scholarship! The Chamberlain Scholarship program honors Ralph E. Chamberlain, CFRE. Mr. Chamberlain had a long and distinguished career of service to the Association of Fundraising Professionals, beginning in the 1960s when the organization was formed as the National Society of Fund Raisers (NSFR), through the late 1970s when the name was changed to the National Society of Fund Raising Executives (NSFRE), and until he died in 1999. Mr. Chamberlain’s dedication to the organization we now know as AFP never faltered in his long volunteer career with the Association. Because of his long-time support of the Foundation’s annual fund and generous planned gift, the AFP Board of Directors renamed their Conference Scholar Program in 2000 to honor Mr. Chamberlain’s memory and commitment to the Association.

The AFP Foundation offers every chapter one Chamberlain Scholarship. Sheila attended the AFP ICON Conference in Toronto Canada in April of 2024. Thank you to Myia, Christine and the entire board of the CNY Association of Fundraising Professionals!
